When a German farmer is found hanging from a tree, hard-boiled police officer Christina Mureti is pulled into an investigation that uncovers Namibia’s colonial history and genocide of the Herero.

 

In ‘Under the Hanging Tree’ writer director Perivi Katjavivi effortlessly weaves mystical eccentricities through themes and scenes traditionally reserved for horrors or thrillers in a tale steeped in a dark colonial past.

 

‘Under the Hanging Tree’ is produced by Anna Teeman, Mpumelelo Mcata and Perivi Katjavivi and is joint production by End Street Africa, South Africa and Old Location Films, Namibia.
